Probing Technology Shows PCIe Gen1 Solutions at DesignCon 2008

Probing Technology Inc. demonstrated its PCI Express (Gen 1) probing solutions February 4-7 at DesignCon 2008 in Santa Clara, CA. PT offers x16 and x8 midbus probe adapters that allow users to connect an oscilloscope to the PCI-SIG defined midbus footprints in order to perform signal integrity analysis.
The midbus footprints are typically used by engineers in order to perform logic or protocol analysis on their PCIe links. Often one of the first things that engineers do when their PCIe link is not performing correctly is to disconnect their protocol analyzer and attach an oscilloscope. The x16 and x8 probes allow engineers to probe this footprint in a hands-free configuration. The probe adapter uses the SPIRIT interconnect from SAMTEC and connects to the oscilloscope using high-performance, SMA-to-SMP, coaxial cables. The probe adapters enable access to all of the differential traces on the link by simply moving the cable connections on the adapter.
Probing Technology demonstrated its solutions using Agilent's new DSA 90000A, 13GHz, 40GSa/s Oscilloscope and a Xilinx, Virtex-5, ML505 Evaluation Platform.
